Carlos Augusto Alves Santana was born in 1947, in a Mexican town called Autlan de Navarro in Jalisco. It
was initiated to traditional music by his father, a mariachi musician,
although Carlos liked rock music that prevailed at the time.
When his family moved to San Francisco, Carlos had to learn English quickly and soaked rock music, studying the groups playing around town and follow his own evolution.
In 1966 he created his famous band, Santana, with the success in reaching the famous Woodstock festival in 1969, impressing the audience with his style, a fusion of rock and Afro-Cuban rhythms and latinos.Ese festival was the point starting the enormous success of this guitarist along worldwide.
In 1969 he published 'Santana' and in 1970 'Abraxas', with which he won first place in the U.S. charts for six weeks and more than one million copies sold, which is unusual in a primarily instrumental group.
Throughout his career he has received prestigious awards, which include a Grammy in 1988 for best instrumental performance and honored to have a star on the Walk of Fame in Hollywood.
With his album 'Supernatural', Santana scored the biggest hit of his career: He won nine Grammy Awards, three Latin Grammys and sold over 25 million copies worldwide.
In 2002 he premiered his work, 'Shaman', retells deluxe collaborations: Dido, Seal, Macy Gray, POD, Placido Domingo, Chad Kroeger of Nickelback and Michelle Branch.
In 2007 he published "Ultimate Santana", the first major anthology of his career.
In 2010 launches the album Guitar Heaven with songs like Back in Black by AC-DC and Whole Lotta Love by Led Zeppelin.
